The Can Man is the story of
Max Barlow. When Max was a child, during the depression,
his family was poor. Max never got presents for Christmas.
Max read a story in the newspaper 12 years ago that said
there were children in his town today who did not get presents
on Christmas. Max bought a bike. And started picking up
aluminum cans! Max collects cans all year. Right before
Christmas, Max sells the cans to the highest bidding surplus
dealer for enough money to buy toys for children on Christmas.
The Can Man was produced by
students at Florala Middle School, Florala, Alabama in conjunction
with The Pacer's Cooperative at The University of Alabama.
